ABOUT MAUI
Maui, known also as “The Valley Isle,” is the second largest Hawaiian island. The island beloved for its world-famous beaches, the sacred Iao Valley, views of migrating humpback whales, farm-to-table cuisine and the magnificent sunrise and sunset from Haleakala. It’s not surprising Maui has been voted "Best Island in the U.S." by Condé Nast Traveler readers for more than 20 years. Check out the different regions of Maui and all this island has to offer. From its famous beaches to the peak of Haleakalā, Maui offers a wealth of unforgettable experiences.
The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka‘anapali is located 27 miles from Kahului Airport on beautiful Ka‘anapali Beach just a few steps away from local shopping and restaurants. Take a short stroll on the beach walk and discover Whaler's Village - the only oceanfront shopping destination in Hawaii.

THINGS TO DO

Take our hotel shuttle to nearby attractions in West Maui. From Haleakala National Park to Honolua Bay, there is no shortage of attractions to visit in Maui. Aside from snorkeling, swimming, sailing, and dozens of other water-related activities, families love to stop by Hana, an undeveloped natural area of unbridled, splendid beauty.
Whaler's Village
Well-known as the premier shopping center in Maui, Whaler's Village is only one block from our resort. It's one of the best things to do in Ka‘anapali on any day of the week. From Billabong to Kate Spade and Louis Vuitton, the 67 stores and 12 restaurants at this shopping mall offer nearly endless recreation and pleasure. Land Activities
Maui’s diverse geography provides a sprawling canvas for a variety of land adventures—that is, if you can pull yourself away from the incredible beaches. Become a paniolo (Hawaiian cowboy) for a day on a horseback ride through Upcountry Maui. Take in a magnificent sunset from the summit of Haleakala. Soar through the jungle on an adrenaline-pumping zipline adventure. Or simply spend a relaxing day perusing shops and art galleries.
Water Activities
Maui’s magnificent cobalt-blue waves and dreamy beaches will beckon you to play in the water. Whether you want to spend a leisurely day swimming at Kaanapali Beach or embark on a snorkeling or scuba adventure near the island of Molokini, Maui offers an enticing selection of water activities. Treat yourself to a surf lesson and learn Hawaii’s quintessential water sport, spy humpback whales during the winter months or take in the heavenly island views on a ferry trip to Lanai. Above the surface or below, exploring Maui’s magical waters is one of the best ways to discover the island’s unique beauty.
Air Activities
Get a bird's-eye view of Maui's sparkling white sand shores, azure blue water and rugged mountains on an aerial adventure during your visit. From helicopter tours to parasailing, there are plenty of ways to get a different perspective on the island's natural beauty.
Beaches
With 120 miles of coastline, Maui boasts over 30 miles of beautiful beaches. On these world famous shores you’ll find white, black and red sand beaches, renowned surfing and windsurfing spots as well as some of the best beaches in the world to simply swim, snorkel and sunbathe. Many are easily accessible beach parks with lifeguards, picnic facilities and restrooms. Others are undeveloped, "secret spots" found off the beaten path.

REGIONS OF MAUI
West Maui
West Maui is home to spectacular resorts, shopping, restaurants, a wealth of activities and some of the most amazing sunsets. The Honoapiilani Highway takes you from one sun-kissed resort to the next, each with its own personality. Traveling north, you’ll find yourself drawn into the vibrant Kaanapali Resort where a stroll on the Kaanapali Beachwalk is always in order. Families play on the beach, shoppers buzz in and out, and diners sit back and simply soak in the view. On this side of the island, resorts melt into one another, and it doesn’t take long to lead you to Kapalua, known for championship golf.
Central Maui
Most visitors to the island will begin their vacations in Central Maui, arriving at Kahului Airport (OGG). Home to much of the island’s population, this area offers plenty of interesting attractions and off-the-beaten-path treasures to uncover. The top attraction in Central Maui is peaceful Iao Valley State Park, with fog-shrouded forests, lush valleys, and burbling streams. Take an easy hike on a paved trail to view one of Maui’s most iconic landmarks, the 1,200-foot Iao Needle. At the gateway to Iao Valley State Park, you can browse local shops, restaurants and historic sites in the charming town of Wailuku.
South Maui
You’ll find the sunniest, driest area of Maui on the peaceful southwestern coast. Blessed with miles of sandy beaches and clear views of the islands of Lanai, Molokini and Kahoolawe, South Maui is a place for lazy days and romantic nights. Explore the immersive underwater aquarium at the Maui Ocean Center in the whale-friendly Maalaea Bay. Golf at world-class courses in Wailea. Shop and dine in some of Maui’s finest restaurants and resorts.
East Maui
The island’s epic east side consists of cascading waterfall pools hidden in lush rainforests, roadside pineapple stands, hairpin turns around plunging sea cliffs. It’s all here, along the legendary Road to Hana. The Hana Highway (HI-360) begins in the town of Kahului in Central Maui and snakes along the island’s northern coast for 52 miles. The drive to Hana can take as few as 3 hours or last an entire day, depending on how many stops you make. After you’ve navigated the more than 600 white-knuckle turns and 50 bridges, you’ll enter Hana—a charming small town where time seems an abstract concept and aloha is a way of life. Just beyond Hana is the Kipahulu section of Haleakala National Park and the stunning Pools of Oheo (also called the Seven Sacred Pools), where a refreshing swim is the perfect reward after a long drive.
Upcountry Maui
Golden beaches give way to rolling hills and misty mountains as you ascend into Upcountry Maui, which is located on the higher elevations surrounding Haleakala. You can take farm tours or even sip Maui-made wines and spirits in the rustic outposts of Kula and Makawao. Upcountry is also the stomping ground of the paniolo, or Hawaiian cowboys. Further east, the 10,023-foot Haleakala presides over the "Valley Isle," with epic sunrises and otherworldly landscapes that feel more like the moon than Maui. It’s a dramatic departure from the coconut palms of Kaanapali and Kapalua, but a day trip to the Upcountry will bring you closer to Maui’s heartland.
